Terms of Service

Last Updated: May 3, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the PageNarrator browser extension and the website at pagenarrator.com (together, "the Software"), operated by PageNarrator ("we", "us", "our"). Please read them carefully. By installing, accessing, or using the Software, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.

1. The Service

PageNarrator is a browser extension that converts on-screen text and PDF content into speech using on-device text-to-speech engines. The Software is offered in two editions:

2. License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms (and, for Pro features, payment of the applicable fee), PageNarrator grants you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, limited license to install and use the Software for your own personal, non-commercial use. A single Pro license key may be activated on up to five (5) of your personal devices at any one time. If you activate a sixth device, the device with the oldest check-in is automatically released.

3. License Key Responsibility

Your Pro license key is personal to you. You are responsible for keeping it confidential and for all activity associated with it. Sharing, publishing, reselling, or distributing your license key is a material breach of these Terms and may result in deactivation of the key without refund. If you believe your key has been compromised, contact us at support@pagenarrator.com and we will issue a replacement.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to, and not to permit others to:

5. Payment, Refunds and Taxes

Pro licenses are sold by Paddle.com, our authorized reseller and Merchant of Record, who handles billing, payment processing, and applicable sales taxes or VAT. Pricing is shown at checkout and may change for new purchases at any time. Existing license holders are not affected by future price changes. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

6. Updates and Changes to the Software

We may release updates, bug fixes, and new features from time to time. Updates may be installed automatically through the browser's extension store. We may also modify, suspend, or discontinue features of the Software, in whole or in part, at any time. If we discontinue the Software entirely within twelve (12) months of your Pro purchase, you may request a pro-rata refund.

7. Third-Party Services

The Software relies on third-party services we do not control, including the browser vendor (Google, Microsoft, etc.), the open-source models bundled in the Software (such as Kokoro and Piper), our payment processor (Paddle), our email delivery provider (Resend), and our hosting provider (Cloudflare). Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy notices.

8. Intellectual Property

The Software, including its source code (where proprietary), branding, and content, is owned by PageNarrator and its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Open-source components included in the Software remain governed by their respective licenses, copies of which are provided in the extension.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Software is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising from course of dealing or trade usage. We do not warrant that the Software will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any voice output will be accurate or suitable for your purpose.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall PageNarrator, its operators, employees, contractors, agents, suppliers, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Software. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Software shall not exceed the amount you paid us for the Software in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the liability, or USD 50, whichever is greater.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PageNarrator and its operators from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Software, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

12. Term and Termination

These Terms apply for as long as you use the Software. You may terminate them at any time by uninstalling the extension and discontinuing use. We may suspend or terminate your license immediately, with or without notice, if you materially breach these Terms (including the Acceptable Use section) or if continued provision of the Software to you is not commercially or legally feasible. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including License Key Responsibility, Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law — shall survive.

13. Consumer Rights

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer-protection laws, nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any rights granted to you by those laws. EU/UK consumers have a statutory right of withdrawal within 14 days of purchase; this right is honored alongside our voluntary 14-day money-back guarantee described in the Refund Policy.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. The courts of Sweden shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms, except that consumers may also bring proceedings in the courts of their country of residence where required by law. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that provision.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the latest changes took effect. If a change is material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you (for example, by email to the address associated with your license). Your continued use of the Software after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

16. Severability and Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and PageNarrator regarding the Software, and supersede any prior agreements.
